People in witness protection don't change their names as much as this...

Upon stumbling off the 45 down by the Caltrain station at 4th and King this morning, I took a glance up at the now-ubiquitous Giants lightpost banners (sans Barry, of course) that signify the coming of another baseball season. Struggling to see which players the team had chosen to adorn our fine city for the next 9 months, I took a closer look. While I couldn't make out the players (apparently I need a new media guide and a pair of glasses), I DID notice that our fair stadium is now called AT & T Park. This after being called SBC Park as recently as January and before that it was known as Pac Bell (which is what everyone still calls it).

Why oh why won't the Giants just pony up, put the cash down for the rights, and name the joint solid, dependable, plain "Giants Stadium"?
